Reorganization

I've been in a mild blogging-funk lately in case you haven't noticed. This is partly due to the absence of my digital camera that mysteriously 'disappeared' shortly before Christmas. One day it was here, the next day - no where to be found. Now, I am not claiming to be the most organized person by far - but my camera is one of those things that I ALWAYS know where it is, no matter what! I have dug through trash cans, reorganized rooms, opened up the bottom of couches - no luck. So now I have a very important decision to make - do I keep looking for my camera or do I break down and buy a new one? I KNOW that as soon as I drop money on a new camera (and if I do get one - it will be a NICE one) that the other one will show up! I am really frustrated about it all and it's trickled down into blogging because there are actually a lot of things I would like to take pictures and post about. I guess I will just describe them and let your imagination do the work -

1. We (and by we, I mean Logan and his father) were very handy over our Christmas break. We finally got the storage building built outside that had been talked about since we moved in over 2 years ago and well needed with the upcoming addition to our family so the baby will have a room of her own! It does need to be painted but that sounds like a spring break project for me instead of a freezing-cold-it's-snowing-again-winter project.

2. I actually WAS helpful in the second Christmas break project. We decided to rip up the nasty laminate flooring from the mud room since it was peeling up around the door and in other places and replace it with tile. We chose a dark stone tile that came in a variety of colors. Logan and his dad cut and mortared them down and it was my job (oh joy) to grout. It wasn't TOO bad as long as I did a little at a time but it got finished and our mud room and the adjoining bathroom look great! Yea for home improvement!

3. I have been in a major reorganization mood with the completion of the storage building. I started with my closet and wiped out everything pre-pregnancy that didn't fit or was dangerously close to not fitting (which was most of everything now). I tupperwared it up and hung up everything maternity. I am glad I have LOTS of GREAT friends that loaned me clothes and I have gotten a few pieces of my own because I can't imagine having to buy a whole wardrobe for this. I have discovered the best store in the universe - Once Upon a Child. We have a store about 45 minutes away in Christiansburg so whenever we go shop I have to swing by. They have tons and tons and tons of used (and VERY nice - not at all Goodwill-ish) baby and kid's clothes, toys, strollers, equipment, and also - my current favorite - maternity clothes. I have gotten several pair of pants that were desperately needed! I can't wait to go and look at little girl clothes now!!

4. And finally...I have started on the nursery. The nursery used to be the 'storage' room in the house but now with the storage building it was finally able to be cleaned out, sorted through, and transformed. I am still getting ideas and trying to figure everything out but it's nice to know it's a blank slate now (and not a pile of crap). I like to go in and just stand sometimes to get ideas. It becomes a little more real every day - unbelievable!

So, there you have my past few weeks in review. Hopefully I will make a decision on cameras soon - I can't handle this! Little baby girl Morrison is growing like a weed - my belly is sure proof of it. I am still feeling really good other than she has taken up residence on my back again but it's manageable! Oh - and if anyone has psychic powers out there, please tell me where my camera is! Thanks :)

THIS, THAT AND EVERYTHING said...

Ok - I'm thinking kitchen area since some of the last things you took pictures of was the bread you baked.

And, I had to laugh, because with your wording, it kind of sounds like the baby's room will be the new storage building - LOL - NOT!!!!

That camera HAS to be somewhere - yeah, I know - WHERE? If only one of us would have one of our physic dreams. Just think last pictures you took and go that path.

Love, Mom XOXO

Great blog! I had missed it so much. Hope you find your camera...remember last summer when mine was missing...and it showed up at the beach in the back of the car! I cried I was so happy! Maybe it is off taking pics of its own? Who knows. Congrats on all of the work around the house and improvements. Sounds great! Can't wait to see what you do with the nursery too! And I LOVE Once Upon a Child. Look for a Kid to Kid too if there is one up there. Need to see you soon!
