Random Facts...

10 Things You May or May Not Know About Me
I think this was on my first day of Kindergarten.

1. I was pre-med in college - yep, before I entered the wonderful world of education, I was a pre-med student for my first 2 years. Then I began thinking about that I will be in school forever and then I had chemistry, physics and prob & stats in one semester (I think I was taking like 21 hours that semester) and had a nervous breakdown...enter 'Teacher Ashley'

2. I can drive a stick shift car - I had attempted to learn when I was first driving on Mom's poor Subaru. I re-learned years later when I bought my first car with my own money - my most favorite car in the world - my 1992 Volkswagen Cabriolet. I LOVED that car and about cried when I sold it. I still drive Logan's truck and when we had our VW Bus.

3. I have a tattoo and used to have my belly button pierced - I don't really feel like I went through I wild phase. I lost the belly button ring (and no longer have the tummy for it anyway!) but I still love my tattoo and would get another one if I could ever decide on one. OMG - do not tell my grandparents you know that about me! They don't know about that...

4. I am ambidextrous - I can use both my left and right hand to write and do a lot of things although I am right-hand dominant. Not a very useful talent but a neat one I suppose

5. I can shoot a gun better than most guys - Seriously - ask my brother and husband...I am a good shot and honestly enjoy shooting. However, I have never shot anything alive and will probably keep it that way...unless you break into my house...

6. I have not eaten beef or beef products knowingly for 11 years now - I stopped eating beef when I was a sophomore in high school to explore, I don't know, a veggie lifestyle. For awhile in college I didn't eat any meat except for fish. I have since phased everything except for beef back in and don't miss it one bit - for both health and environmental reasons. Those Subway meatball subs do smell awfully good though...

7. I have never had a cavity - Nope - not even one. Perfect teeth here! The only tooth procedures I have ever had done were braces on my bottom teeth in high school and my two left wisdom teeth were taken out. 27 years and going strong! (I am becoming increasingly scared of the dentist though for fear that I WILL have one!)

8. I am shy - Seriously I am. I don't come off as shy to most people because of my 'camp' training where I was forced to NOT be shy but I really hate being put into situations with people I don't know at all. I feel awkward and out of place and nervous and would rather sit back instead of be the center of attention.

9. I always knew I would meet my husband at camp - I started going to our church camp - Holston Presbytery Camp in Banner Elk when I was in the 3rd grade. From then on I knew I would meet my future husband there. In 2002, I did. I knew he was 'the one' immediately too - even though he had a girlfriend ;) I will have to elaborate more on that long story one day because that is a story in itself!

10. Beets make me gag - literally gag! - This one has a mildly entertaining story to go with it. Background knowledge - I love cranberry sauce from a can. Fact - sliced beets and cranberry sauce from a can look strikingly similar. I am not sure how old I was but I VERY CLEARLY remember eating school lunch and thinking it was cranberry sauce - I am sure it was near Thanksgiving - and it wasn't. Have you ever been sure you are eating one thing and it turns out it was something else? And your brain and taste buds malfunction because of this? Yeah...beets still make me retch to this day.

I hope you learned something about me! If not, then you know me pretty darn well! Congratulations!
